We will divide into breakout groups . Susan will take the ELA teachers, Frank will take the math teachers, and I will take the social studies and science teachers. Administrators and other teachers may choose which group they would like to join. These will be the same breakout groups for the rest of the retreat as well.
In this session, we will review the content-specific part of the CCS. Susan will cover the English Language Arts standards, Frank will cover the Mathematics standards, and I will cover the Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects standards.
We want to have participants note how the standards change from grade to grade from grades 8 – 12. We also want them to highlight keywords in the CCS and use them to modify tasks that they are currently doing with their students.
